Fall Sports Awards: Monday, November 3
Sunday, November 2 2014 - IHSA Class 1A State FinalsWestmont High School Fall Sports Awards Night
Monday, November 3, 2014
On Monday evening after practice, the Athletic Department will host their annual Fall Sports Awards Night. Normally, this would take place the Monday after the State Final, but this year they moved it up to the Monday before the State Final.
It is a time for us to celebrate our accomplishments during the season before we zoom in our focus on Saturday's State Final. There is much to celebrate, much to be proud of. We will celebrate our team accomplishments, and we will celebrate each individual's accomplishments from this season.
We expect each of our athletes to dress up with class for Awards Night.
Boys should wear a shirt and tie.
Girls should wear a nice skirt or pants.
Do not wear jeans or gym shoes!
Refreshments (yes, including ice cream--Coach Dunne's favorite!) will be served in the Commons beginning at 6:30 pm. At around 7:00 pm, all guests will be asked to make their way to the auditorium for the first part of the night's program. The head coach of each sport will share their team accomplishments with the audience. Then, All-Conference winners in each sport will be recognized. In addition, All-Conference Academic award winners will also be recognized during this time (juniors and seniors competing with a 3.5 GPA or above).
At this point, each sport will break off into their individual sessions. Cross Country will head to Coach Marose's room (room 104) to celebrate our athlete's and team's accomplishments. Each individual will be recognized.
Normally, in our individual awards session, we would hand out our commemorative season yearbooks to each athlete. However, as we still have one more meet to run (and it's the biggest one of the season!) we will not be handing out these commemorative yearbooks on Monday night.
Tentatively, we have planned an end-of-season pizza party for Wednesday, November 19th, in Coach Marose's room, where we will turn in uniforms, have some pizza, and hand out those yearbooks.
