Season Opener Tomorrow!

Monday, September 1 2014 - Home Meet (vs. Timothy Christian)

Athletes and parents,

We are just over 24 hours away from our season opening dual meet against Timothy Christian. We are very excited to get the competition schedule underway, as well as for our first annual Pasta Picnic after the conclusion of the meet tomorrow! Side note: An ENORMOUS THANK YOU to our families for generously contributing dishes for our Pasta Picnic tomorrow!

Just a few short reminders for athletes in advance of the meet tomorrow:

  • Don't forget your uniform and shoes/spikes!
After the dismissal bell tomorrow, hustle down to the gym and get changed. We'll need to set up the course before Timothy Christian arrives.
  • Hydrate, hydrate, hydrate!
It looks like it is going to be another warm (but not terribly hot) day tomorrow. Drink plenty of water the rest of today, and drink plenty of water throughout the school day tomorrow.
  • Get to bed at a decent time!
Not only do you have a meet tomorrow, you've got school tomorrow! Be sure to get a good night's rest tonight.
  • We are a TEAM!
Cross country is a TEAM sport, and we want to warm up as a TEAM, and look like a TEAM tomorrow. Be sure to wear a T-Shirt representing Westmont High School (THERE SHOULD BE NO JUNIOR HIGH SPIRITWEAR!!!) tomorrow for the meet, and warm up together as a TEAM.
  • Relax and have fun!
It's the first meet of the year! This is what you have been looking forward to all summer and since practice started on August 13! We know there are going to be some nerves for everyone--coaches included--(and that's perfectly fine), but you should also enjoy it!

Once Coach Wolf fires the starter's pistol tomorrow afternoon, we'll have officially kicked off our competition schedule...and we will be one step further along on our journey to making another trip to Detweiller Park in early November.

And after the meet is done, we'll chow down on some food! Doesn't that sound good?

Enjoy the rest of your labor day, have a great day at school tomorrow, and we'll see you outside tomorrow afternoon at 3:00. It's almost here!
